An-Najah National University was established in 1977 as a public, non-governmental, non-profit university. It is the first Palestinian university to be granted the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for 7 programmes in the Engineering and Technology. There are currently around 1300 academic staff and 20,000 students enrolled within An-Najah’s four campuses: the ‎New Campus, the Old Campus, Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, Khadouri Campus in ‎Tulkarem (which offers programmes in the fields of agriculture and veterinary medicine) and An-Najah National University Hospital.

An-Najah is ‎comprised of 13 faculties located throughout the different campuses, offering 87 Bachelor ‎Degree programmes, 23 Intermediate Diploma programmes, 52 Graduate programmes including 3 High ‎Diploma programmes in Medicine and two PhD programmes in Chemistry and Physics. In addition to this, ‎the University has libraries located ‎on each of the four campuses containing more than 435,488 books; 180,000 of which are electronic, as well as more than 28,000 scientific journals.

By utilizing the academic body and material resources, An-Najah is able to provide and participate in scientific research at the international level and to respond to the needs of local society by offering support through a plethora of social and technical programmes. Continues to maintain and improve upon its own educational standards. Through the constant ‎training of staff and, more importantly the encouragement, education and accreditation of ‎students; An-Najah’s aspirations of becoming a leading global institution are becoming ‎a reality.

As a pivotal institution in Palestine, it is vital that An-Najah continues to inspire its student body to realize their own potential to have a positive impact upon the society in which they reside. By equipping them with the essential tools of knowledge, professionalism and leadership, we believe that their personal development will create a more prosperous future for Palestine.

The university also offers several projects and programmes in the fields of social and educational ‎services ‎and voluntary work. Currently, An-Najah offers opportunities for students to be ‎involved in ‎community service activities that develop their academic and cultural skills. An-Najah National University managed to achieve several ‎academic and social services and contributions. For example, it offered 3233 scholarships ‎to its students and 323 ones to students with disabilities. ‎An-Najah organizes annually more than 500 lectures on community service to encourage voluntary work ‎as 4500 students enrolled in the community service courses in the year 2016. They ‎accomplished 220,000 hours of voluntary works in more than 1000 public and private ‎organizations and institutions.

An-Najah always contributes to the development of the Palestinian community; ‎therefore, it handled more than 7000 cases of poverty, unemployment, disability and other ‎social and economic ‎problems ‎ and rehabilitated 193 houses and facilities. ‎ Moreover, around ‎‎130 groups of An-Najah students worked in housing programmes to improve living ‎‎conditions ‎and provide healthy and safe environment to some poor and homeless families.‎

Moreover, An-Najah University is taking many steps towards achieving its vision in improving the educational opportunities in Palestinian tertiary education. The establishment of the supporting offices and centres represents a major step forward towards improving the quality higher education. For example, the university has established An-Najah Business Innovation and Partnership Center (NaBIC), the Career Unit, the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, the E-Learning Center, the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence, the Media Center and the Practical Training Center.

An-Najah University has also established itself as a leader in the field of quality assurance systems both nationally and internationally, whether in the realm of academia, administration, scientific research or community service. For instance, An-Najah is the first Palestinian university to be granted the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for 7 programmes in the Engineering and Technology.

An-Najah National University has recently been ranked 45th in the Arab world, according to the QS World University Rankings and the 2nd university in Palestine, which makes it among the top 5% universities in the Arab World for the year 2018.

ANU includes the ‎New Campus, the Old Campus, Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, Khadouri Campus in ‎Tulkarem (which offers programmes in the fields of agriculture and veterinary medicine) and An-Najah National University Hospital. In addition, An-Najah offers a safe, healthy and attractive campus environment for our students, faculty ‎staff and visitors by providing comfortable facilities as Banks, Sports Complex, Shopping Center, An-Najah Mosque and the Day Care Center as well as a number of student activities, drama groups, scientific field trips, Social Supervision Unit, international competitions and others. 

Student Employment & Career Development

From the moment they register for their first classes until they receive their graduation certificate, An-Najah National University strives to give the highest level of attention and care to each one of its students. The university endeavors to provide students with all the needed facilities, support, and resources in order to produce well-educated and well-trained graduates who are qualified and able to find appropriate employment within the community. In response to the increasing number of graduates looking for careers and job opportunities in local and international organizations, the university founded the career Association. The mission of the career Association is to meet this demand by helping graduates find suitable jobs either in the local or international market.

The university aims to strengthen ties with its career by remaining in contact with students after they finish their studies. The university considers its students as ambassadors to the associations where they work. In cooperation with local associations and ministries, the Unit offers specialized, individual attention to students in order to find them openings within these local organizations. By matching graduates with the appropriate positions within local businesses and organizations the Unit will perform two important functions: reducing the average of unemployment within the graduate community while simultaneously providing these organizations with well-qualified employees who will strengthen and raise the level of productivity in the community.
