Koç University, founded in 1993 as a non-profit private university in Istanbul, Turkey, and supported by the resources of the internationally renowned Vehbi Koç Foundation, is located in a beautiful sixty-two acre campus in the northwest of the city.

Student life 
Koç University’s main campus achieves a striking balance, being accessible for all of Istanbul, while at the same time offering a retreat from the distractions of city life. Undergraduates programs in STEM

The College of Engineering at Koç University aims to prepare technically capable, creative and innovative engineers, who will become future leaders of industry, academia, and society at the national and international levels.

Its education focuses on enabling engineers who can acquire, synthesize, and apply interdisciplinary scientific knowledge to expand technological foundations of their professions to serve the needs of society, and who are broadly capable of, understanding and responding to the continuously changing frontiers of modern science and engineering globally.

The College of Sciences aims at educating intellectually curious, creative, and critical thinkers who are equipped with the necessary skills to become competent researchers in emerging areas of basic sciences.

To this end, we provide all students an opportunity to actively participate in research at the undergraduate level and carry out independent study projects with faculty members. Students emerge from the program with an appreciation for learning and achievement and a sense of social and ethical responsibility.

Many of the undergraduates pursue graduate studies in leading universities in North America and Europe, while others excel in an array of professional environments.

Graduate programs in STEM

With its excellent quality of education evidenced in numerous world rankings, focus on R&D, globally acclaimed faculty members, and students filled with the desire to learn and conduct research, Koç University offers prospective students an exceptional graduate school experience.

Koç University encourages interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and research through a wide range of graduate programs that include 29 Master’s and 25 Doctoral degrees. Students also benefit from access to state of the art equipment and training at 10 research centers and 112 laboratories on campus.

Above all, Koç University offers exceptional mentoring in its Master and Doctoral programs to 1,273 graduate students through more than 430 full-time faculty members who have obtained their PhD's and have gained extensive teaching and research experience at the most prestigious universities worldwide.

GRADUATE

Two types of Masters programs are offered:

  • Master in Science without Thesis: 1 year duration (2 semesters), complete a minimum of 30 credits (equivalent to 10 courses) and a non-credit Project.
  • Master in Science with Thesis: 2 year duration (4 semesters), in addition to course work (minimum of 21 credits or 7 courses), students are engaged in thesis research and supervised by an advisor. Students also must complete the non-credit courses that include Graduate Writing and Teaching Experience.
